The Home Turf of Gabriel Henri Bergeron

 

 Gabe Bergeron, our intrepid hero, ranges across the Delmarva Peninsula from Crisfield to Snow Hill and north to Philadelphia, the home of his long-suffering employer, Garst, Bauer & Hartmann, and crossing Maryland via Amtrak to Washington, D.C. to see Cory, with the odd visit to the Poirier farm in Loudoun County, Virginia.

(Not mention forays to New York City and Hawaii)


 

The Delmarva Peninsula is composed of nine counties of Maryland which are east of the Chesapeake Bay (i.e. the Eastern Shore), the three counties of Delaware, and two counties of Virginia.


The Pocomoke River rises in Delaware and flows south through Worcester County, Maryland, to empty into the Pocomoke Sound, an arm of the Chesapeake Bay.

 Aunt Flo's Victorian Aunt Flo's Victorian home, sitting on the banks of the Pocomoke River near Snow Hill, Maryland, is one of the major settings of the Gabe Bergeron mystery books. The inspiration for this fictional structure was the parsonage of Immanuel Methodist Church in Crisfield, Maryland. The parsonage itself was torn down in 1973 and lives on in a few photos and antique postcards. The home was introduced in Book #1, "Death on Daugherty Creek" “ Great-aunt Flo lived in an old Victorian pile on the banks of the Pocomoke River.   Gabe Bergeron Short Stories The first of a series of short stories is set to be published in early March. Naturally, they will feature Gabriel Henri Bergeron, CPA, his relatives, friends, co-workers, and, of course, Corentin Georges Poirier, FBI special agent extraordinaire and Gabe's inamorato. Not to mention the villains Gabe seems to run into with distressing frequency. This adventure begins with Cory and Matt Bornheimer, Cory's FBI partner, expressing an interest in Gabe's first case...his first case involving the forces of law and order. He had cast his mind back to his student days...really not that long ago at all...and recalled a spot of grand theft auto perpetrated upon Aunt Flo.   Naturally, Gabe had sallied forth to discover the truth...selflessly, valiantly....without regard for danger to life and limb.
